CVDazzle (2010)

CVDazzle is a project by Adam Harvey with the purpose of foiling facial recognition through the use of fashion in the form of makeup or hairstyles. The looks are tested against OpenCV, a widely used, free facial recognition software. In our research we hope to take inspiration from this work while making the 'face changes' easier and quicker to do.

RealFace Glamouflage (2013)

RealFace Glamouflage is a project by designer and researcher Simone C. Niquille with the goal of confusing facial recognition algorithms with the use of many fake face images. She created a collection of T-shirts covered with faces of celebrities.

HyperFace Camouflage (2016)

HyperFace Camouflage is another project by Adam Harvey that aims to thwart facial recognition algorithms, however by taking a different route than CVDazzle. With HyperFace, Harvey is attempting to create 'camoflauge' textures and fabrics that contain many face-like patterns detectable by facial recognition algorithms. The hope is that the algorithms will become overloaded and ineffective when constantly picking up these high-confidence 'false-faces' instead od the wearer's actual face.
